Hosted by the Biochemistry Programme of the School of Life Sciences, the “International Conference on Nucleic Acid Enzymes and Enzymes in Human Diseases (NAEEHD)” was held at the Mong Man Wai Building from June 16 to 21.
The Conference aimed to update recent trends in the areas of structure-function studies of nucleic acid enzymes, as well as enzymologies in different diseases. Topics include:
- Enzymes in DNA replication, gene transcription, DNA recombination, repair and mobility
- Enzymes in biotechnology and medicine
- Enzymes in epigenetic gene regulation and development
- Enzymes in human diseases
The Conference enhanced our understanding of natural sciences and also enabled us to better utilize these enzymes in medicinal sciences and biotechnology for the benefit of our society.
There were keynote speeches, talks and poster presentation. 50 research scientists from nine regions including Sir Richard Roberts, New England Biolabs Inc. USA and 1993 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, and Professor Sen-Fang Sui, Tsinghua University and Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences gave talks on their fields.
