Faculty of Education Public Lecture

On March 23 2013, three top athletes in elite sports, Ms. Yu Chui Yee, Mr. Lee Chi Wo Daniel and Mr. Cheng Ka Ho, delivered a public lecture, titled ‘My Radiant Life in Sports Fields’ as part of the celebration for CUHK's 50th Anniversary. They shared with an audience of 200 people the sweetness and bitterness of their lives as professional athletes, for instance, the high intensity trainings they had gone through, the determination and aggressiveness they maintained in competitions and the emotional adjustments they made after failures. The elite athletes pointed out that the journey of professional athletes is lonely and never easy, but they believed that persistence and positive thinking can help athletes overcome all the challenges and live a radiant life. They commented that readiness to sacrifice, extraordinary persistence and strong confidence are the prerequisites for becoming outstanding athletes. Last but not least, they encouraged the young people among the audience to make an early start to set and pursue their goals.
